A beautiful early autumn Saturday in mid September saw Quest delivering the Marsh Charity Team Walk Challenge in Sherwood Forest.
A Challenging Walk
450 Marsh employees from all over the UK descended on Center Parcs on the Friday evening, and registered their teams.
After collecting their event t-shirts and information packs, most of the teams headed for an early night in anticipation of the challenge that awaited them the following morning.
Quest had devised a team building walk through Sherwood Forest to cater for all physical abilities, and which at designated Activity Points set up in clearings and spaces around the forest, would also present the teams with a host of other challenges to tackle and complete.
Raising Money for Charity
Following their on-line registration and entry some weeks before all of the teams had been working hard on raising sponsorship money for their chosen charity, Help for Hospices.
As the sun rose on the Saturday morning, the teams made the way to the start to turn their sponsorship pledges into real money for a very worthy cause.
Many of the teams were attired in fancy dress and the team start was a very noisy, lively and jolly affair.
Achievements Celebrated
The teams had a choice of completing a course of 11, 15 or 18 miles and as the day progressed so the miles were steadily covered, and the Activity Point challenges completed.
By 5 pm the teams were back, a little foot sore and weary, but highly energised with what they had accomplished.
After a little muscle soothing and some relaxation they were ready to celebrate their achievements and most importantly the terrific sum of £14,800 they had raised for Help for Hospices.
The day had been a resounding success, and plans are already afoot for an even bigger event that will raise even more for a deserving charity in 2010.
